Getting started
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have: - An AWS IAM account with appropriate permissions (see S3 Permissions Setup) - Access to CloudCrumbs application - Basic understanding of AWS CloudTrail
Step 1: Create an Organization
- Log in to your CloudCrumbs account
- Click on "Create Organization" in the dashboard
- Enter your organization details:
- Organization name
- Description (optional)
- Primary contact email
- Click "Create" to finalize your organization setup
Step 2: Add CloudTrail Log Sources
- Navigate to "Data Sources" in your organization dashboard
- Click "Add New Source"
- Select "AWS CloudTrail" as the source type
- Configure the source:
- Enter AWS credentials (Access Key ID and Secret Access Key)
- Select the AWS region
- Specify the S3 bucket containing CloudTrail logs
- Set the log prefix (if applicable)
- Click "Save" to add the source
Step 3: Ingest Data
- Go to the "Data Sources" section
- Locate your newly added CloudTrail source
- Click "Import Data" next to the source
- Select the date range for data ingestion
- Click "Start Import" to begin the data ingestion process
- Monitor the import progress in the "Jobs" section
Step 4: Query and Visualize Data
- Navigate to the "Analytics" section
- Use the query builder to:
- Select time range
- Choose metrics and dimensions
- Apply filters
- Click "Run Query" to execute
- View results in:
- Table format
- Visual charts
- Export options
