Getting started

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have: - An AWS IAM account with appropriate permissions (see S3 Permissions Setup) - Access to CloudCrumbs application - Basic understanding of AWS CloudTrail

Step 1: Create an Organization

  1. Log in to your CloudCrumbs account
  2. Click on "Create Organization" in the dashboard
  3. Enter your organization details:
  4. Organization name
  5. Description (optional)
  6. Primary contact email
  7. Click "Create" to finalize your organization setup

Step 2: Add CloudTrail Log Sources

  1. Navigate to "Data Sources" in your organization dashboard
  2. Click "Add New Source"
  3. Select "AWS CloudTrail" as the source type
  4. Configure the source:
  5. Enter AWS credentials (Access Key ID and Secret Access Key)
  6. Select the AWS region
  7. Specify the S3 bucket containing CloudTrail logs
  8. Set the log prefix (if applicable)
  9. Click "Save" to add the source

Step 3: Ingest Data

  1. Go to the "Data Sources" section
  2. Locate your newly added CloudTrail source
  3. Click "Import Data" next to the source
  4. Select the date range for data ingestion
  5. Click "Start Import" to begin the data ingestion process
  6. Monitor the import progress in the "Jobs" section

Step 4: Query and Visualize Data

  1. Navigate to the "Analytics" section
  2. Use the query builder to:
  3. Select time range
  4. Choose metrics and dimensions
  5. Apply filters
  6. Click "Run Query" to execute
  7. View results in:
  8. Table format
  9. Visual charts
  10. Export options
